ADIDAS NEWS & BRITISH ADDITIONS

Not only does British designer Stella McCartney create a covetable ready to wear line, but she has succeeded in a way that very few of today’s top designers have.  She is at the head of a flourishing and long-standing (the line launched in 2005) sportswear collection for Adidas.

The Adidas by Stella McCartney collection consists of apparel, footwear and accessories for golf, running, gym dance, gym yoga, gym studio, tennis, swim, and winter sports.   Now, 19-year-old Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki has been announced as the new face for the Adidas by Stella McCartney tennis line this upcoming Fall/Winter season.

The up and coming blonde-haired player is currently the only Danish woman in the Top 300 on the World Tennis Association tour, where she is ranked in ninth place. The announcement comes amidst a ton of tennis-related hype (ahem Anna Wintour), and the pro will be playing tennis tournaments in Adidas by Stella McCartney apparel and footwear (which will include the Performance Dress featuring Adidas Climalite technology, the Performance Hot Pant and Bra in smoked pink, the tennis image jacket in dark grape, and the Skynde tennis shoe in seed pearl, dark grape, and white).

In other British news, London Fashion Week gets juicier by the minute. In addition to Burberry Prorsum, Matthew Williamson, Jonathan Saunders, Clements Ribeiro, and Pringle of Scotland, we can now add Amanda Wakeley to the list of those returning to London Fashion Week this season which is also the British capital’s 25th Fashion Week anniversary.

Another LFW exciting addition? Since being appointed as the chair of the British Fashion Council, Harold Tilman has taken a number of key steps to raise the leve. of awareness and hype of London Fashion Week.  The British Fashion Council has enlisted public relations firm People’s Revolution to promote the shows and British designers in the US.

People’s Revolution is, of course, owned by Kelly Cutrone of The Hills and The City fame and Cutrone will herself soon be the star of her own reality show on Bravo.
