Forum Members React to Davide Renne Becoming Creative Director of Moschino

Today’s major fashion news is Moschino finally has themselves a creative director in Davide Renne, following the shock exit of Jeremy Scott back in March, who spent 10 fabulous and fun-filled years at the helm of the Italian fashion house. Scott leaves behind some immense shoes to fill, having delivered a whole plethora of joyous and unapologetically kitsch collections (and equally as dazzling advertising campaigns to match) which have helped reshape, redefine and revive the house Franco Moschino founded in 1983.

Tuscan-born Renne has been at Gucci for the past two decades, and most recently held the head of womenswear design position until his appointment at Moschino, starting his new role on November 1. After Moschino welcomed mega stylists Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Lucia Liu, Gabriella Karefa-Johnson and Katie Grand as guest designers for Spring 2024, Renne’s debut collection is set to be revealed in February 2024 during Milan Fashion Week.

Per usual, it didn’t take long for our forums to react. “I guess his experience of working for Alessandro Michelle’s Gucci will make him a good fit for Moschino,” voiced JohannesL straight away.

“I’m intrigued. It’s a very ‘speak the same language with a different accent’ approach. It will maybe more Italian, less comical but still flamboyant. I hope he keeps working with Carlyne,” Lola701 chimed in.

“This guy has the reputation and the stature to do this!” championed forum member Tchi.

Perhydrol said: “I must say, I’m genuinely happy for Renne! He is totally capable of pushing Moschino into a more timeless and less cartoon-ish direction. I wonder what he’s going to do with all the Moschino leftovers being pushed to all the outlets out there, because that is a very serious problem for the brand right now!”
