Does the Casting ‘Ruin Everything’ in Zoë Ghertner’s Miu Miu Campaign for Spring 2024?

Miuccia Prada stays loyal to Zoë Ghertner. The American photographer has lensed Miu Miu’s advertising campaign imagery since the Spring 2023 season (with the slight exception of the Matelassé handbag campaign starring Gigi Hadid). Ghertner is back for Spring 2024 and strips it all back for a series of simplistic yet bold portraits, captured under the natural light of the warm Los Angeles sunshine. A handful of Miuccia’s muses come together for the occasion, including Emma Corrin (obvi), Cailee Spaeny, Angel Haze, Lexie Liu, May Anderson and Demi Singleton. The star-studded cast were each styled by Lotta Volkova, and pose against a stark white backdrop, in an attempt to cement the fact less is always more.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“This was such a cute collection, with great bags and styling. I like the straightforward approach – however, these girls are giving nothing,” immediately called out lookatme.

“This type of photography only works with appealing faces,” MModa chimed in.

“The casting ruins everything. I only like Emma Corrin…” added GivenchyAddict.

WAVES wasn’t too overjoyed at the sight of the campaign either, commenting: “Miu Miu campaigns used to be so good!”

“Ad campaigns are done playing with glamour and sex appeal, which is eally sad,” Bernie Flood shared.

Not everyone, however, was so quick to disapprove. “Not mad at this to be completely honest! Quite like the simplicity of it all with the natural-lighting, the clean white backdrop which allows the styling and the personalities featured in the campaign to shine through and be the main focus. Zero gimmicks, just very straightforward and direct,” vogue28 reasoned.
