Jason Wu S/S 2011

The young designer, Jason Wu, has designed a collection with what he describes as a “minimalist moment”, inspired by the brilliant color and layering of Brazilian artist, Beatriz Milhazes. Taking silhouette references from both the 40's and 70’s, the effortlessly tailored collection is filled with gorgeous options for Mrs. Obama to choose from. A combination of polished looks with the effortlessness of Latino influences created a luxurious, wearable collection with a lot of life. Texture was everywhere, from the layered prints to the actual design begging the viewers to reach out and touch them. Oversized bows, silk ruffles and bright prints looked both easily wearable and polished.

Gorgeous gowns in violet, and tweed day dresses that fit like a glove will fit nicely into an upper east side woman’s wardrobe.

Tiers, layers, and full skirts with prints and color were an obvious Wu favorite this season for cocktail attire.

The hair was spun into a unique chignon of tiny braids that will translate into the real world. Make-up was kept pretty and simple, with a splash of solid color brushed across the eye.

It was a fabulous extension of Wu’s previous collections, and it looks like accessories will now be apart of his new line “Miss Wu.” Looks like these ladies will have a complete look from their favorite designer next season.
