New Target and H&M Designer Collaborations Announced

While you’d be hard pressed to find a fashion lover unfamiliar with Jimmy Choo, Lanvin, Rodarte, or Proenza Schouler, the next collaborations for H&M and Target are with decidedly more under-the-radar designers. First up is H&M who has teamed-up with Swedish fashion blogger Elin Kling for a limited edition line hitting Sweden’s 10 H&M stores on February 3rd.

Unfortunately the collection won’t hit the States. It’s a surprisingly alluring nine-piece offering (plus two accessories) consisting of a mix of white separates, a washed leather jacket, and drapey after-dark looks, along with a floor-sweeping gown. Details are minimal and there’s a laid-back sophistication that I imagine would sell well if the collection does arrive State-side – time and eBay will tell…

As for Target, on May 1 they’ll be teaming up with Hamptons and St. Barts favorite, Calypso St. Barth. Many shoppers have complained about Target’s and H&M’s high price points when it comes to their designer collaborations, so it seems fitting that Target has opted to partner with a slightly more moderately priced brand. Prices for the Calypso St. Barth for Target line – which will include women’s and children’s clothing and accessories, as well as home décor items including candles, pillows, and glasses – will range from $1.99 to $79.99 versus the up-to $800 price point that Calypso St. Barth typically retails for.

No images of the Target collaboration have been released yet, but the May launch for the line couldn’t have been better timed, given that the 16-year-old French brand started as a resort wear line and has continued with an extensive expansion on their signature boho chic, brightly colorful, easy-to-wear aesthetic. Here’s to hoping for some chic caftan dresses and embroidered tunics!
