Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2011

The pre-fall season can sometimes be dull and safe as designers opt to show an array of staple, wearable looks. This season, however, things have been a bit more out-of-the-box than expected, which has many hopeful for a very promising Fall 2011 season. Never one to shy away from the drama, John Galliano brought out the big guns with his Duchess of Windsor inspiration for his latest pre-fall collection.

A pulled together glam aesthetic with a focus on hats, fur trim, and accessories (including quilted and stitched handbags that are guaranteed to sell like hot cakes) made for a somewhat familiar John Galliano-designed collection, but an undeniably chic and perfectly styled one. Nods to the Duchess of Windsor’s love for hunting and lavish jewelry were palpable as well via tartan prints, kilt-like bottoms, oversized pearl necklaces, and layered costume jewelry pieces, which helped tie the tailored collection together.
