ADAM Fall 2011 Runway Review

There was a definite small town vibe in the collection Adam Lippes presented for his namesake line this season. Inspired by the National Museum’s exhibition on the American Indian, the ADAM presentation was a somewhat muddled show that paired long, loose, and wearable day dresses with mismatched outerwear and a heap of plaid everything.

Socks with Manolo Blahnik heels and hipster glasses paired with the transparent dresses and wide slouchy trousers proved to be the most wearable looks of the collection, but there were definitely as many misses as there were hits.

The selling point of the collection was that it was definitively Fall; we’ve seen plenty of springtime colors and slinky silhouettes, but where ADAM hit the mark was with the fall print and cozy knitwear. We can bank on the fact that long, loose day dresses will be a major trend for next season, but perhaps the native printed knits and plaid on plaid can be left behind.
