Vera Wang Fall 2011 Runway Review

Edgy and soft, Vera Wang is a designer who knows how to blend these two oppositions beautifully in her clothing line. Her Fall 2011 Collection was a mixture of structured and flowing pieces. Gorgeous, floor length gowns were paired with tailored vests and thick leather gloves. Chiffon pieces were pleated adding a bit of architectural design to a soft dress or separate. Fur trim and feathers were added onto overcoats and on the collar of short vests and jackets.

The circle skirt was another design favorite. Paired with silk blouses and structured jackets, the pleating was used as a design variation to each look. Colors were neutral and simple sticking to Wang’s signature style. Charcoal grey, champagne, olive green, burgundy, and black were the main color themes. A bit of sheer in each dress balanced out the heavy detail that covered just enough skin.

Styling included heavy black boots, a smoky eye and a clean and simple, tousled ponytail. Wang continued to do what she’s known for and produced a minimalistic collection that didn’t disappoint.
