Rochas Fall 2011 Runway Review

It’s easy to miss the couture-like creations that Olivier Theyskens created in his time at Rochas when looking at the comparatively more commercial designs that creative director Marco Zanini gave us for Fall 2011. However, one must admit that given the label’s battle to be known for something other than its fragrances while remaining financially viable, Zanini is taking an undoubtedly smart approach.

Zanini offered a classic lineup of daywear including boxy jackets, fitted striped tops, lightly flared and baggy trousers, and monochromatic cocktail dresses and gowns. Lines and silhouettes were clean, simple, easy to wear, and looks were showen in a variety of colors and finishes with noteworthy details like exposed zippers, pocketed gowns, and bustier tops providing visual interest to a very sellable collection of closet staples.
