As the penultimate show of the Fall 2011 collections, Elie Saab is showing to a tougher crowd than some of his peers. The fashion industry is tired, overstimulated, and looking towards the light at the end of the tunnel, and in the final hours of fashion month this is exactly the kind of collection needed to dispel any of those desires to race towards the finish line.
With a very luxurious minimalist aesthetic, something we’re more used to seeing at Milan Fashion Week rather than Paris, the collection was a glorious pairing of the couture sensibility the designer is famous for and the classic wardrobe every woman is looking for. The color palette seemed to dictate the run of the show with distinct sections for black, prints, red, wine, slate, ivory, and back to black for the end. Each color block, in the most literal meaning, had options for day and night with some of the most noteworthy pieces being the most simple daywear and understated gowns.
Wearable day dresses just begging for statement jewelry were a staple in this collection but those used to seeing Elie Saab all over the red carpet on your favorite celebrities should fear not as the eveningwear was just as covetable.
