PARIS: CHLOE F/W 09

by Sharon Feiereisen

Following in Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney, and Phoebe Philo shoes is no easy fete as we’ve come to see with Chloe. Showing her second collection for the label, after an array of different designers, Hannah MacGibbon seems like she’s becoming a promising successor.

The Fall Winter 2009 Chloe collection had an 80s vibe with its cozy blanket coats and high-waisted pants, but the pieces MacGibbon showed had a sporty, relaxed feel to them unlike many of the other 80s inspired collections we seen this season.

Many of the looks – in particular the white shirt dresses – had a light and coyly sexy feel to them that will no doubt be coveted by many of Chloe’s younger followers.

That said there were some notable misses in particular a one-shoulder velvet jumpsuit that was cinched at the waist with a wrapped belt topped off with tassels.

Similarly a one-shoulder silk peach number had side cut-outs that seemed dated.

It’s when she stuck with clean lines and silhouettes that MacGibbon truly shined.

Many of her draped evening gowns were wholly covetable mixing femininity via their breezy movement with sex appeal with their deep-V cuts.
