NONOO LYONS S/S 2010

This season, the young designers presented their collection in a Soho space that was colorfully decked out with lollipops, pop rocks and all sort of other fun, feminine touches. The collection consisted of 12 looks – 11 of which were outwear pieces and the last one, a tailored dress look.

The Spring/Summer 2010 collection was inspired by 1940’s and 50’s Americana and, more specifically, the elegance of the iconic pin-ups of the time. This inspiration certainly translated into the silhouettes which were uber-tailored and body conscious. The outerwear pieces were expertly styled with sequin shorts and Mechante of London shoes.

As for the fabrics they ranged from rubber coated tweeds and leopard print waterproof taffetas, to cobalt blue silks and bright white cotton faille, all of which made for wearable wholly covetable looks. The collection was full of on-trend pieces – military-style jackets, ruffles, zigzag cut-outs a la Stella McCartney – but there is a timelessness to Nonoo Lyons that makes their garments great investment pieces – and isn’t that what we’re all looking for these days?
