Lady Gaga arrived at the Interscope Records VMA afterparty at Avenue in a full wedding dress. The VMA winner for “Best New Artist” and dear friend of the Fashion Spot took off the veil that covered her face and threw it to fans as she joined her friend and long time supporter, Perez Hilton. She was joined by her old schoolmate Nicky Hilton plus Diddy, Akon, Keri Hilson, Kim Kardashian, Polow Da Don and Soulja Boy Tell’em, who got cozy with Teyana Taylor.
Katy Perry sat in a corner table and got caught kissing Russell Brand. The two of them have known each other for a while and had to kiss in a scene for Brand’s upcoming film Get Him to the Geek.
Nearby at Abe & Arthurs (formerly Lotus) Warner Music had their own party where DJ Premier showed up wearing a T-shirt with a photo of himself and DJ AM, who died last week. DJ D-Nice spun for Green Day, Sean Garrett, Gabrielle Union, Maino and DJ Premier. Diddy somehow got there before I did, which made me wonder if there are two Diddys out there.
I made this joke to my companions and we headed over to Jay-Z’s party over at 1 Oak. As we got to the door, I saw Diddy and his crew get into a scuffle with police and security. Everyone calmed down quickly (I assume the police wanted to question him for being in three places at once) and inside I ran into Kimora Lee Simmons, who I hadn’t seen since the opening of JCPenney’s Manhattan. She was there with her husband Djimon Hounsou, Kim Kardashian, and Cassie.The entire club – including Jay-Z and Rihanna – sang along to Alicia Keys’ chorus in Jay Z’s stirring new hit “Empire State of Mind.”
