J. MENDEL S/S 2010 BACKSTAGE

Gilles Mendel’s collection for J. Mendel was easily my favorite collection thus far. The man knows how to put together a show, and it’s never only about the clothes. Everything from the hair to the nails were flawless this season.

To mirror the mix of structure and softness that made up the J. Mendel collection this season, backstage hair lead Odile Gilbert fashioned a voluminous hairstyle that was all about the “organic, chaotic natures of mussed curls – it’s all about volume – tons of volume – and a round, fluid shape. This look is very feminine,” says Gilbert, adding “it’s not feminine-frilly; rather, it’s femininity with a modern twist.”

The makeup look was created by Bobbi Brown.  The skin and brows were kept natural-looking, the eyes were soft-diffused, medium brown and smoky, while the cheeks and lips were done in pale pink.
