SHACKING AT AGENT PROVOCATEUR

Joe Corre, the co-founder of the United Kingdom-based saucy lingerie brand Agent Provocateur, has parted ways with the brand that he started more than 15 years ago with Serena Rees. The announcement of the departure was made by the company’s CEO Garry Hogarth exclusively to Vogue, when he revealed that over the past few months Corre – who is also the son of Vivienne Westwood and ex-Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren — has been focusing on other projects “and I think he just felt – having achieved so much with Agent Provocateur – he wanted to move on to new challenges. “The business is going well; we are four per cent up on last year and we have a very strong design team, so we are very confident about the future. We won’t be looking to replace Joe.”

While Coree will maintain his share in the company he will no longer have any creative input (while Coree has not designed the collection these last few seaons, he has had a role in overseeing them), rather he will be focusing on his menswear label, A Child of the Jago, among other projects according to Vogue.com.

The company, which has build an empire on provocative designs and marketing strategies – including controversial advertisement campaigns featuring Kylie Minogue, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Kate Moss – is a perennial celebrity favorite.  With boutiques around the world (and seven international store openings projected for this year, including one Moscow, Switzerland, Korea, Malaysia, Spain, and Eastern Europe), the company seems on track for continued steady growth – Hogarth noted that Agent Provocateur has also got fragrance, jewelry in association with BJD, sunglasses, umbrellas, and bedding deals in the works.
