Supersized Afros and Lots of Kooky Looks for Zanini’s Schiaparelli Haute Couture Debut

One of the models took to the runway with an oversized red afro, while others wore long opera gloves and kooky hats – this about sums up the oddball, but visually enticing Marco Zanini-designed Schiaparelli Haute Couture collection this season.

While Zanini’s debut collection may have seemed to lack cohesion, it was on point with the brand’s playful and surrealist-influenced heritage – no matter the disparity in colors, silhouettes and cuts. Better yet, the details weren’t only surface embellishments — though there were plenty and they were inside and out as was revealed by the models when they removed their blazers – but there were plenty of stunning fabric manipulations. Dramatic rushing, supersized sleeves and tiered skirts all made for unforgettable looks that would surely make a mark on the red carpet were they to be worn by the likes of Helena Bonham Carter or Cate Blanchett.
