Karlie, Adriana, Jourdan, Hanne and More Walk for Jason Wu Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Scene: A stylish crowd gathered in Soho to see the designer’s show, which featured, per usual, a stellar cast including Adriana Lima (who opened), Karlie Kloss (who closed), Jourdan Dunn and Hanne Gaby Odiele.

The Inspiration: The designer noted that he was inspired by “austere elegance.”

The Look: Monochrome ruled at Jason Wu’s very structured and dark collection, which translated into an overall somber feeling. Wide leg pants, slip dresses, fitted sweaters, fur trimmed outerwear and lots of slinky fabrics dominated the sophisticated collection. Even when the designer veered sexy as with deep cowl neck dresses, cut-out eveningwear and thigh-high slit skirts, nothing ever appeared too provocative given the minimal embellishments and long hemlines. Interestingly, most of the outerwear was cut on the roomy side, which served as a contrast to the feminine cuts of most of the collection

The Accessories: Pointed metallic booties, T-strap pumps and structured handbags.

The Beauty: An elaborate twisted updo with boyish slicked back sides and a natural face with boxy straight across brows, pink cheeks and no mascara.

The Takeaway: A sophisticated collection of dark colored day and evening looks for powerful, confident women with just a little bit of edge.
