J. Mendel Masters Fur and Eveningwear for Fall 2014 (Runway Review)

The Scene: Anna Kendrick and Keren Ann were among those seated front row and dressed head-to-toe in J. Mendel.

The Inspiration: Ballets Russes.

The Look: Given the amount of fur we’ve seen on the runway this season, it’s little surprise that J. Mendel went to town showing a parade of luxurious furs. The jewel-toned collection’s geometric and colorblocked outerwear made for striking modern looks and the designer used a variety of furs, including raccoon, mink and fox. Leather was also prominently featured and made for eye-catching cinched at the waist tops. Also in the mix were knee-length skirts, geometric patterned mini dresses with leather detailing and a series of beautiful languid gowns, which came draped, gathered and fashioned out of high-shine fabrics or chiffon.

The Accessories: Gladiator sandals and structured handbags.

The Beauty: Hair was parted in the middle and casually styled for an effortlessly glamorous look, complete with porcelain skin and a groomed brow.

The Takeaway: Gilles Mendel is a master when it comes to fur and eveningwear, and this season he dazzled with both.
