A Labyrinth-Inspired Feel for Dion Lee’s Resort 2015 Collection

The range, modelled by fresh face to the modelling-circuit Alice Morgan, maintains the precise construction of garments Lee is so well-known for. This time around, Lee splashes optical prints on sporty shapes to highlight the use of luxurious fabrications, including airbrushed pleated leather, lurex knitted pleating and silk paper stretch organza.

Lee’s always had a knack for creating a killer shape, which works well with the strong blacks, whites and cobalt blues of the collection and also complements the hypnotic elements and surprising cut-outs. We’re loving the clever execution of sexy-yet-sophisticated monochromatic mini dresses, both with and without longer overlays. But the real magic of the collection is seen when Lee mixes emerald greens with shades of blue and silver to evoke an ethereal labyrinth-inspired feel, complemented perfectly by the use of maze-like patterns as it pleasantly traps us in an optical illusion.

And although we’re already envisaging these pieces in upcoming magazine spreads, on the red carpet and in our wardrobes, we sadly can’t touch the incredibly engineered goods until October, when we can snap them up from the Dion Lee online store.
