One Minute with … Time’s Arrow Designer Christine Park

Fashion Week kicked off a little early this season with a launch presentation/party for Time’s Arrow’s new collaboration with stylist Kate Foley. The setting was as far from Lincoln Center as one could get, and it was perfect: Miss Lily’s on West Houston. Jamaican beats, fresh juice and beef patties eased the crowd into what will no doubt be a crazy week.

The bags — if you aren’t familiar with the brand yet (and you need to be) — have unexpected color pairings inspired by Costa Careyes and Josef Frank, and the soft leather that Time’s Arrow is known for. Price-wise, they range from $225 to $750. A great bag at that price? Seriously. (All are available at Shopbop.)

We chatted with Time’s Arrow designer Christine Park for a minute last night about the collab and her post-NYFW plans.

theFashionSpot: How did your collaboration with Kate Foley come about?

Christine Park: We met when we first launched and Kate was at Opening Ceremony and we kept in touch and she liked my bags and we became friends.

tFS: The bags are fantastic.

CP: Kate has amazing style. She’s totally a TA girl in terms of her personality. She’s really down-to-earth, she’s vibrant, she’s curious about all the things we love. So we were talking about collaborating, about maybe doing a video. She was like, “I want to do a bag!” I said, “DONE!”

tFS: What’s your favorite piece of the collection so far?

CP: I have to say the Micro Helene, which is new. So, this collection is available now. This is our actual launch.

tFS: It’s like total instant gratification.

CP: Yes! So, you can go online right now and buy it. This is the Micro Helene’s debut. I think this is fast becoming my favorite bag.

tFS: You really are becoming a bag lady!

CP: Bag Ladies is our theme! But I love this bag. It’s super cute, you can take the handle off and carry it.

tFS: But what we love about your bags — even the clutch — is they hold a lot.

CP: I like to be prepared and carry things! And on this collaboration, we did.

tFS: What are your post Fashion Week plans?

CP: I haven’t even thought that far ahead! I staycationed this past summer because I’m a basketball mom. So, I spent most of my time following my 12-year-old son to basketball tournaments. Which is amazing. So, we gave up our summer vacation. So, there’s a Caribbean or Mediterranean water on the horizon for me!
