News & Runway

Looking gorgeous at the Golden Globe awards in a blue mini dress from British-based designer Erdem, Ashley Olsen will be making an even bigger fashion splash in New York City come next month (surprisingly, Olsen flew under the radar at the awards ceremony where she was barely photographed…wonder how she pulled that one off?). Vogue UK reported some exciting news – Ashley Olsen and her sister Mary Kate will be debuting their Fall/Winter 2010 collection from their high end label The Row during New York Fashion Week via a presentation at a yet to be determined location. This is a departure from simply holding market appointments, which is what the twins have done in the past. Here’s to hoping we get an invite to the sure to be exciting presentation.

Speaking of celeb-designed fashions and Fashion Week, front row staple Alexa Chung has been signed by Madwell (of the J. Crew Group), to create a fall collection.  This will be the brand’s first celebrity collaboration.

The former model and television personality was hired to bring a “sexy tomboy, Sixties girls’ band element."

Chung remarked she will be designing “things you wouldn’t mind getting dirty in, and things that I actually wear.… I love how their vibe is a mix of vintage and new — it completely clicked with me.”  The collection will be called Alexa Chung for Madewell and will include dresses, high-waisted skinny jeans, oversize wool jackets, and T-shirts.
