News & Runway

Personally, I’m most excited for Ports 1961, La Perla, J. Mendel, Oscar de la Renta, Isaac Mizrahi, and Betsey Johnson – all of which, along with a lot more, will be covered on The Fashion Spot. As for events, they’re kicking off on the first night with the L’uomo Vogue and John Varvatos fete – where Alberta Cross is slated to perform (and Guns ‘n Roses) – at the Varvatos space in the Bowery, and continue throughout the week with an endless slew of promo events and after-parties. Among the the highlights are the QVC party taking place in the lobby of the tents on Saturday, February 13th in support of Fashion for Haiti and the Timo Weiland after-party taking place at hot spot du jour, The Wooly, where a special performance by The Postelles is slated to take place.

It’s no secret that the fashion industry has been hit hard by the economy and continues to struggle amidst bankruptcies and cut-backs, but hopefully that will only push the world’s most celebrated minds to churn out more visiualy interesting, cutting edge pieces.
