Virgil Abloh’s New Jewelry Collection Was Inspired by Paper Clips

Virgil Abloh isn’t running out of creative juices as artistic director of Louis Vuitton and CEO of Off-White, and now he’s expanding his eponymous brand to include a jewelry line. The first product to be revealed is a major throwback to our elementary school days when we used to make necklaces out of paper clips.

On Monday, Abloh posted to Instagram a box of recycled jumbo paper clips with “Virgil Abloh™” printed on it. A few hours later, it was followed by a man wearing paper clip necklaces in gold and pavé diamonds. The designer told WWD, “It’s a necklace, there’s earrings, there’s an accessory. The idea is like high jewelry for all. It’s a crash — it’s a paper clip, but it’s also pavé diamonds made in a very specific way.”

The designer will be launching his eponymous jewelry line together with the latest handbag and sneaker designs for Off-White at Floral Shop, a pop-up shop at Hôtel Costes in Paris that will be open from January 17 to 29. The products will be available for pre-order and can be reserved early, so you can have your very own Virgil Abloh diamond paper clip necklace before anyone else.
