Forum Members Review Jacquemus’ “Les Sculptures” Collection for Spring 2024

Immediately after the frenzy of Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week, the fashion pack have been whisked off to the south of France (the commune of Saint-Paul-de-Vence to be exact) to check out Jacquemus’ latest collection which was unveiled earlier today. Staged at the Maeght Foundation, a private French foundation of modern and contemporary art that houses one of the most exceptional European collections of sculpture, paintings, drawings and graphic works of the 20 century. Befitting the venue, Simon Porte Jacquemus entitled his Spring 2024 collection ‘Les Sculptures’ and offered up a lineup of silhouettes built around the circle. Jacquemus’ cast of models (including everyone from Gigi Hadid and Angelina Kendall to Bibi Breslin to Imaan Hammam) roamed the art museum wearing jackets with curved sleeves, tailored trouser with protruding circular drapes and dresses with rounded hips.

Read below the reactions of theFashionSpot’s forum members:

“I genuinely feel so sorry for all these people who have attended the Maison Margiela show last week and then have to see… this.” [helmutnotdead]

“Bottega Veneta on a budget. I was never a fan of the brand, it’s not my vibe. But I could acknowledge a certain naivety that turn simple ideas into elementary poetry. For a couple of season he tried to be edgy, modern, sharp. His clothes are no longer innocent or naive but rather Kardashian-oriented. A pity!” [IloveDiorHomme]

“For all his twists and turns, this show is flat as a pancake, it’s almost 2D. There’s very little content here.” [Norden]

“The volumes are very Lagerfeld and the allure is very Ghesquière. All of that without a master technique…

That being said, I like that he is finally back to work. This collection feels more achieved than anything he has done this past 2, 3, 4 seasons?” [Lola701]

“The rounded shoulders and weak-kneed ‘conceptualism’ made me think of Loewe by Jonathan Anderson right away, though it’s missing the latter’s brazen surefooted-ness. Simon has a good product, I’m sure he knows that. But why on Earth he wishes to be Paris’s Christian Siriano is beyond me!” [LANZO_358]

“A lot of Bottega Veneta, a bit of The Row and Miu Miu… this brand is our French Proenza Schouler.” [GivenchyAddict]

“The only really good part about this show were the rounded coats and jackets, especially the beige coat on Hadid.” [LadyJunon]
