Fashion Trend: Wrap it Up

Now that the leaves are starting to change color and a cool breeze is sweeping into the climate, you’ll need to throw on a few extra layers before you leave the house. Depending on where you live, the layers may be on the heavier wool side, or on the lighter cotton side. Designers are providing plenty of fashionable cover up options, ranging from wool ponchos to faux fur hoodies and waterproof zip-ups.

A monochromatic grey pant and blouse paired with a beige wool wrap is a warm alternative to a traditional coat, shown at Elie Tahari (left). Looking for a replacement for the boyfriend blazer? Try an oversized, floor-length trench coat with a matching wide leather belt for an attention-grabbing option, shown at Jill Stuart (right).

Florals and color? Kenzo goes against the grain and chooses bright prints in plenty of light layers for fall ((left).

Ready for the rain at Junya Watanabe, this open sleeve, waterproof windbreaker with a belted hood will keep you dry. Pair it with jeans to make less of an avante garde statement (right).

A faux fur, black coat over a black and pink printed dress and tights will keep this Anna Sui girl looking chic as she travels to her next evening event (left). Layers of black and white, asymmetrical cuts, and geometric prints show off BCBG’s modern collection for fall, perfect for a city girl on the go (right).

This season, have fun with your layers and choose a wrap, heavy sweater, oversized trenchcoat, or all three to stylishly protect that pretty outfit underneath.
