Spring Shopping: Botanical Prints

Flowers are blooming everywhere – on the street, in parks and gardens, and in little corner shops. After a mighty long winter, spring is finally upon us! But it’s not just the sidewalks and parks that are receiving a flurry of growth and botanical activity, the Spring 2011 runways were full of it as well. From Stella McCartney‘s bold botanical and fruity prints to Erdem‘s more chaotic take on the flower print, designers were loving a strong floral graphic on the runway.

Florals aren’t just appearing as a paisley printed sundress, but are making the leap from girly, feminine, and forgotten to bold statement-making jackets and tops. Botanical printed tops can be worn with a bold pair of colored trousers or a simple white skirt. Or they can be worn alone as a beautiful dress or paired with stripes and other prints as seen at Prada (think crazy monkeys, stripes, and baroque prints). Florals need not mean your grandmother’s couch or a boring alternative. Think fresh, bright, bold, and larger than life prints that make you want to buy a huge bunch of tulips and make a springtime statement.

We’ve put together our top picks to inject a splash of botanical prints into your wardrobe, whether you start small or go all out.
