Alice Temperley called her Spring 2009 collection “Romantic Odyssey,” and nothing could have more aptly described the mix of feminine and dramatic frocks that Temperley presented in the Phillips de Pury building on the second day of London Fashion Week.

Choke-full of ruffles, chiffon, studded star-accents, gathered fabric, and organza flowers, the collection mixed trim, tailored, menswear-inspired silhouettes with pieces that had a more flowing, Grecian drape.

Though the collection had some gorgeous stand-out pieces like a flowing blue number with just a slight hint of print around the bust and some fun, short chiffon dresses accented with bold bursts of fabric on the shoulder, the collection overall felt disjointed with some of the looks, with their excess of frills, bordering on the costume.
