Everyone from Prada, Azzedine Alaia, Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood and Manolo Blahnik have designed items for Barbie and so it’s only fitting that many fashion designers are now flocking to pay homage to the doll in light of her 50th anniversary. Of particular note, it has been revealed that avant garde designer Jeremy Scott and shoe aficionado Christian Louboutin will be designing special celebratory collections. Louboutin will pay his respects via a special collection of Louboutin heels paying homage to the iconic doll and they’ll reportedly be colored Barbie Pantone 219 Pink. The collection of heels are set to debut at a Barbie-inspired runway presentation at New York Fashion Week in February.

That’s not where it ends however. According to Diane Pernet, “To celebrate her 50th, Mattel UK has partnered with LA-based Jeremy Scott to produce a clothing collection inspired by Barbie which will have an exclusive debut at Colette on March 12th during Paris fashion week. Other new partnerships include a 3 year partnership starting in February with CFDA and also sponsoring IMG’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion week in NYC. Also in January House of Barbie opens in Shanghai, 35,000 sq ft, 8 floors, including a spa, runway and restaurants.”
