DOLCE AND GABBANA MEN’S FALL ’09

Article excerpted from thefashionisto.com/blog

Opening Milan Fashion Week, Dolce & Gabbana are among the first to show. For inspiration, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana returned to their heritage, opening the show with black and white images of Sicily. With the Killer’s latest single “Human” setting the tone, the presentation of clothing took place against a bleak black atmosphere.

Dolce & Gabbana presented their typical mix of formal, casual, and skin. Black, leather velvet, holdalls and the full-length coat.  This season is all about the sophisticated man, leather coats and holdalls. Not to get lost in the sea of leather and velvet, the show picked up with the addition of quilted trousers and jackets; an interesting idea, but not the best execution.

The Dolce & Gabbana show began strong, but lost momentum as sheen and colors like red, fushia and pink began to dominate the runway. Spring 2009 is the season of pajamas.  This time around, the quilted look takes over.
