Those attending Royal Ascot, however, must abide by an extremely strict dress code, with it being compulsory for women to wear a dress accessorized with a hat. Plus, there are even rules regulating the length and style of the dress, which does unfortunately dampen the whole fashion credibility of the event and makes you wonder why it’s still a little stuck in the dark ages.

Outfits never come more extravagant than on Ladies Day itself, when there’s a real sense of rivalry amongst the women and their chosen ensembles.
