Be Part of the New Mod Squad with Fall’s Sixties-Inspired Style

One of our favorite runway trends for fall layering has to be the overt historical references to Sixties style. While you can find bohemian touches in any number of collections pretty much every season, Fall 2013 is an homage to the bright colors, shift dresses and psychedelic prints of the Mod girl.

Take a look below at some of the best runway looks for inspiration. Feel free to mix plaid with a mini or a shift a la Stacey Bendet for Alice + Olivia; always playful, a knee sock will cover up your shins in cool weather. Don't be afraid to get borderline costumey like Anna Sui's girls which sported psychedelic saturated prints and colors. If you prefer a more sophisticated touch, look no further than Salvatore Ferragamo where boxy double breasted jackets, white knee-high boots and mini skirts ruled the catwalk. Proenza Schouler also went the white shoe post-Labor Day route.
