Mismatched earrings are everywhere, from the Grammy Awards red carpet to Bella Hadid’s errand runs. But it’s a trend that is easier said than done. Teaming the right pair of mismatched earrings is a total art. There’s a very fine line between “Hey, that’s so cool,” and “I think you should take a long look in the mirror.”

The biggest mismatched earring rule is that both pieces need to complement each other, be it based on shapes, colors, designs or length. Pairing a dangler with a random gold hoop is a no-no. If you’re a rookie, it’s always safer to buy mismatched pairs.
