We’re Calling It: Two-Tone Clothes Will Be Everywhere This Spring

There are times we’re all a bit indecisive. Whether it be about where to grab a bite, where to vacation or what to wear to work. Well, this spring designers are tapping into that conflict by providing two-tone clothes that offer the best of both worlds.

Brands like Cynthia Rowley, Dion Lee and Christopher John Rogers all offered split-personality pieces for Spring 2020, from bicolor pants to half-and-half dresses. Some are split down the middle, some feature legs in two different colors, while others section off the top and bottom. There are even more abstract ways to draw the line.

And the trend has already trickled down to the streets. Street style stars have embraced two-tone clothes sporting everything from beige and black jackets to red and pink pleated skirts. One of most common iterations? Two-tone jeans. Even Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid have jumped on the bicolor denim bandwagon.

When it comes to how to style these half-and-half items, your best bet is to stick to one shade everywhere else. So if you decide to rock a two-tone dress, slip on sandals in one color — either a neutral or one of the colors in your dress. Once your expertise expands, feel free to try two-tone footwear.
