How to Pull Off Lampshading Even in the Middle of Winter

While tailored clothing is clawing its way back, there’s something to be said for oversized items. Besides their comfy status. We enjoy having a little extra room, whether it be to layer or just extend the length of our go-to pieces. With the latter being extremely helpful when it comes to mastering the art of winter lampshading.

We all know what lampshading is by now. It’s the trend of wearing an outsize top with tall boots. Usually better suited to fall, we’re actually embracing the practice in winter. How? Well, by barely showing any skin. The key is to cap off a large sweater or cardigan with over-the-knee boots. That way everything stays covered. And, in theory, super cozy.

Still worried about staying warm? You can always wear knee-high socks or tights underneath your boots. You can also put on your sweater over a long-sleeve shirt on those particularly frigid days and nights.

There is a bit of strategy involved, however. It’s important to make sure your sweater hits right at the top of your boots. It can even go a touch below. The goal is to only show some skin while you’re walking. If at all.
