Coachella Beauty: Kate Bosworth’s Braided Part and Messy Bun

Celebrity hairstylist Bridget Brager was the mane master behind Kate Bosworth‘s simple yet eye-catching look at Coachella this past weekend. “The inspiration for Kate’s festival hair was a nod to the 90s half-up, half-down, grunge chic, slept-in hair with a twist (or a braid!),” says Brager of the style.

“Starting on second-day dry hair, take a small section (no larger than the width of the tip of your ring finger) of hair where you would normally have a center part. This section should end at the crown of your head, just before your head starts to curve,” instructs Brager. Once that section is created, it’s time to make a cornrow braid and continue it toward the forehead. Finish the braid where the hairline stops on your forehead and make two sections by splitting the third strand of the braid in half. “To secure the braid, use a small bobby pin. Push the pin up the middle of the braid as flat to the head as possible. Split the lengths of the hair around the face to create framing,” advises Brager.

To complete the style, add Kevin Murphy Powder Puff to the lengths of the hair for texture and gather hair into a half-up knot and secure with an elastic. Lock in your look with Bumble and bumble Does It All Hairspray and let any shorter pieces fall around the face for a casual vibe.
