Style Challenge: Summer Makeup Revamp

Blogger Emilee Anne revamps her beauty look for summer.

You cannot escape the elements in New York City, for summer that means walking around in the blazing sun and standing on the sauna-like subway platforms. I go for a more natural look in the Summer with minimal makeup since most of it just melts off throughout the daytime. My approach is a ‘less is more’ state of mind. As the days warm up and the train stations become more humid, I wean myself off the heavier products, which I rely on for winter, like eye shadows and lipstick, and instead focus on skincare.

I don’t like to mess with all the fussy new products when it comes to my skin, I want something simple and reliable, which is why I love Neutrogena. Their moisturizer for sensitive skin is perfect for re-hydrating dry skin and I only need to apply one pump in the morning and at night on my face and neck. For my morning moisturizer application, I switch it up to Neutrogena’s oil-free moisture with SPF 15 for a little added protection. I apply a few brush strokes of Guerlain Meteorites in Pink Fresh, it is such a delicate powder only a faint glow is noticeable. Since I normally work up a light tan during this time of year, I never have to use a bronzer, but I do apply a few strokes of Chanel powder blush in Tumulte on the apples of my cheeks for a little color.

I can literally say I am addicted to Dior Addict Lip Glow; I use it like Chapstick, but the beauty of the product is it feels like a lip balm, but it brings out a natural lip glow, and as a bonus contains SPF10. I either wear this alone or apply before applying a lipstick. During the warmer weather, I wear brighter colors and Revlon Orange Slip is the perfect amount of color if I want a not-so-dramatic red lip. I phase out liquid eyeliner when the humidity gets too much since it can get a bit messy, and instead turn to Dior Diorshow Blackout waterproof mascara.

I love Daisy by Marc Jacobs as a summer scent since it has such an airy aroma. With this new beauty routine quickly turning into my favorite routine, I can safely say that I am prepared for those hot and sticky summer days.
