Recreate Odeya Rush’s Modern Take on a Retro Look

Who: Odeya Rush

Where: The Giver New York Premiere

Why we like it: You may be wondering who this is, but Odeya is a fresh face that’s been all over our radar lately and this look was too good not to feature. The Israeli-American stunner is appearing alongside names like Meryl Streep (OK, and Taylor Swift) in the new release, The Giver, and we love her exaggerated features and how she mixed up the palette of this classic look.

How to get it at home: Start with a base that will deliver an even, velvet texture, such as Laura Mercier’s Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide ($48) and add a touch of color back to the cheeks with a light blush, such as Tarte’s Deluxe Cheek Stain ($10), but go easy, as you want to keep your skin as smooth and even as possible. Groom and define your brows with a light pencil, such as Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Perfect Brow Pencil ($23), but be sure to brush your brows up and over to distribute the product and tame any stray hairs. It goes without saying that the liner is the star, or at least the best supporting actress, in this look, but it’s important to prep the lid with a shimmery shadow to help highlight and soften. We love NARS’ Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Dione ($29), which you can sweep across the lid with a fluffy brush for a light wash of color. Now comes the wing. We love to try new liners, but for a look as intense as this, it’s great to go back to an old favorite, such as Lancôme’s Artliner Precision Felt Tip Liquid Liner ($30.50). The most important thing to remember with a wing as dramatic as this is to keep your face straight on the mirror during application. It’s the easiest way to make sure you get it even in length and density. With a look like this you usually see a bold matte red lip, but we love Odeya’s neon pink pout. Paint yours with our favorite neon lipstick, Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics’ Lip Tar Metallic in Yaoi ($18)
