BICYCLE FOR A DAY

Cynthia Rowley’s Spring/Summer 2008 show during New York Fashion Week was one of the designer’s most memorable. Not only did Rowley send models down the runway riding bicycles in heels, but all of the show’s jewelry was bought from eBay (Rowley is a huge fan of the site).

I was fortune enough to be able to work on this fun project with eBay and Cynthia Rowley’s team as the one who did all the eBay bidding and purchasing. Turns out the designer, who recently opened her sixth boutique in Boston, is a big fan of biking.

Rowley has teamed-up with Bicycle For A Day to present a healthier, more environmentally friendly way to mosey around town. The eco-minded designer has stamped her signature city-girl-meets-the- outdoors look to these limited edition vintage style bicycles, which will be officially unveiled at the Bicycle For A Day/ Everyday Fundraiser. The fundraiser will be hosted by actor and BFAD founder Matthew Modine at the Solar ONE building in New York City.

The event is slated for Thursday, June 4, 2009 at 6:30pm and pre-event tickets are going for $30 ($35 at the door). Profits from ticket sales to this event will be donated to Solar TWO towards the purchase of sixty BFAD bike racks for the new Solar TWO building, which will be the first Carbon-Neutral, Net-Zero Energy Building in New York City (construction begins in November 2009).
