Kate Winslet has already done her part to make the world a better place (hello, she gave us Titanic) but thankfully, she’s not stopping there. The esteemed actress is now using her celebrity to take a stand against Photoshop. She revealed at Monday’s Elle Women in Hollywood event that she negotiated a no retouching clause into her contract with Lancôme.
“I do think we have a responsibility to the younger generation of women,” she explained. “I think they do look to magazines, I think they do look to women who have been successful in their chosen careers and they want people to look up to, and I would always want to be telling the truth about who I am to that generation because they’ve got to have strong leaders. We’re all responsible for raising strong young women, so these are things that are important to me.”

Kate joins celebrities like Zendaya who recently spoke out against airbrushing when a magazine excessively Photoshopped her picture. If more celebs take a powerful stance against blatant retouching like these two, perhaps we can eradicate it once and for all…though we probably all still do it secretly on Instagram.
